Call for Applications: Doctoral Fellowships 2026-27

The Orient-Institut Beirut (OIB) awards a number of fellowships-in-residence normally lasting 10 months beginning on 1 September 2026 or shortly thereafter, specifically designed for doctoral candidates engaged in outstanding research projects in the humanities and social sciences. We invite applications across disciplines, time periods, and geographic coverage outlined in our mission statement. Proposals are encouraged to articulate the contemporary stakes of the research project, whether historiographical, cultural, religious or political dimensions.

New “Riwaq Prize for Research and Culture”

New “Riwaq Prize for Research and Culture” to award outstanding humanities monographs in Arabic, German, and English. Publishers and scholars are invited to nominate titles in Arabic, Islamic, and related Middle Eastern studies with a thematic focus on Arab cultures and societies by January 31, 2026—further information: www.riwaqbookprize.com.
